John and Clara Rogo mark the memory of their mother
The family of Mrs Clara Rogo marked the passing away of their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law, Florence Nwanmenkwe Kilete, on Saturday, September 27th, 2014 in Stockholm. Florence, who lived to a ripe age of 79 years, passed away on June 17th, 2014 in her home town in Nigeria.
Hallunda folkets hus was filled with friends
of the Rogos who gathered to mourn and celebrate the life of Clara's mother. It was a sad moment but also a celebration of a long life well spent on earth. The attire was predominantly white on account of the deceased's age. The Nigerian ladies turned out in their rich lace dresses with the headgears, all in the same textile material, tied up so high that some of them touched the chandelliers in the hall.
There was a lot to drink and so much Nigerian food to eat. In true Nigerian style, each person in attendance was given a present to take away as a remembrance of the occasion. There was good music and dancing too.
John Rogo had urged his fellow Ghanaians to attend the celebration in other to make up the numbers but in the end, the Nigerians, who outnumber by far the Ghanaians in Stockholm and looked better organised, overwhelmed the Ghaianans by their presence.
It was a very memorable occasion.
